Captain Kelsey Clark Journal Entry
July 1st, 2026
It's been fifteen days since coming back from the moon. My five days on the lunar surface with the Athena III crew was...simply amazing. I received word today that I'll be leading the next crew that will be the first humans to live on the moon in the first moon base.
The scuttlebutt around NASA is that there's something top secret (well above my clearance) on the moon and China and Russia are preparing to build their own bases to beat us to it. To beat everyone to the moon, the US government hired WorldTek to oversee construction and implementation of NASA's lunar base, which means I'll be training not only my own crew but civilians who have never been to space and who report to WorldTek CEO Joseph Graves.
I have this gut feeling that Graves knows about whatever is on the moon and is planning to exploit it. Sure, he's known for all of the good his company and technological breakthroughs do for humanity, but I would be fooling myself if I didn't think he wants more than that and whatever is on the moon means money and power to whomever claims it first.
