Edward & Nora Aldrich
Edward Aldrich, a railroad tycoon and rock climber, and Nora Aldrich, a scientist and explorer were both members of the Society of Adventurers. They were pivotal in helping Martin Norfolk and others join the society as well as funded dozens of expeditions. Edward and Nora were married in 1926 in the society's Grand Hall with Sir Simon Higgins overseeing their ceremony. A few years later, the two divorced but continued to work together, eventually independently funding the Department of Unexplained Encounters. After Edward's death, Nora cemented her legacy as one of the most celebrated scientists in the world. Shortly before her death, Nora was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work.
