Sir Simon Higgins
Knighted by the King of England in 1903, Sir Simon Higgins co-founded the Society of Adventurers in 1904. In his lifetime, he participated in over 30 expeditions. He served as the society's first president from 1904 to 1908 and then again from 1924 to 1928. Higgins was an avid adventurer who became the inspiration for hundreds of members who followed in his footsteps over the last one hundred years. In his later years, Higgins spent much of his time lecturing and teaching about his past adventures to children and young adults to foster a love of the outdoors.
